Betaine (Cocamidopropyl Betaine)

Betaine is a quaternary ammonium compound and a bipolar ion, and its full name is cocamidopropyl betaine. This substance was first found in the nineteenth century in sugar beets. It is a methyl derivative of the amino acid glycine, also known as methyl glycine, lysine, and oxyneurine.

It should be noted that this substance is widely used in liquid form in detergents and personal care products, and its solid form is also available as a powder, which is a type of nutrient used in the treatment of homocystinuria and is not sold as a drug in chemical manufacturing factories.

Betaine is a biodegradable substance and does not harm the environment in any way. Storage of betaine is very simple; it just needs to be kept away from direct sunlight and protected from cold and freezing.

Direct contact with betaine can cause burning, itching, and swelling of the skin. If it comes into contact with the skin or eyes, be sure to wash with plenty of water and seek medical attention promptly.
